Introducing University of Denver Provost Jeremy Haefner.

Invigorating Communities

A mathematician with a passion for leadership, Jeremy Haefner brings to DU his commitment to supporting transformational change, research and innovation, and inclusive excellence.

NAMED THE UNIVERSITY’S NEW provost in April 2018, Jeremy Haefner comes to DU from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he served for 10 years as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.  There, he developed and helped implement an academic direction to ensure the success of the institute’s academic colleges and its four global campuses (RIT Dubai, China, Croatia and Kosovo). Under Haefner’s leadership, RIT was reclassified as a doctoral research university and achieved a top 100 national university ranking.

What lured Haefner to the Centennial State? Colorado has its high-altitude charms, Haefner acknowledged, but mostly he was taken by DU’s priorities and programs.

“DU’s mission to serve the public good was a huge attraction to me,” he told the University of Denver Magazine. “And DU has a wonderful split of graduate and undergraduate populations that affords many opportunities for intergenerational learning.”
