The new facility embodies DU’s emphasis on community engagement and student achievement

Invigorating Communities

WHEN THE DU TENNIS teams need to serve an ace or tune up a topspin, they can head for the new Denver Tennis Park. Located at South High School, the indoor/outdoor facility brings together DU, Denver Public Schools and Denver Tennis Park Inc. in a groundbreaking public-private collaboration designed not just to give the them a home-court advantage but also to make the sport accessible to the city’s youth. The park was made possible by two $1 million gifts from longtime DU supporters—one from trustee Catherine “Cappy” (BFA ’76, MBA ’80) and Robert Shopneck (MA ’73, JD ’76) and another from Honorary Life Trustee Jane Hamilton.
